How a Matheran trip works
Vehicles are not allowed in Matheran itself. The road ends at Dasturi Naka, and from there visitors go on by foot, on horseback, by hand-pulled rickshaw or on the shuttle train from Aman Lodge.
So the plan is simple: we drive you up to Dasturi Naka, and come back for you at the time you choose.

Can the car go into Matheran?
No. Matheran is car-free, so all vehicles stop at Dasturi Naka. We drop you there and pick you up from the same place.
Can you wait while we visit?
Yes, for a day trip we can plan the waiting time and show it in the quote. For stays, we come back on the day you choose.
Is it a good trip with older parents?
The drive itself is comfortable. Inside Matheran there is walking on unpaved paths, so plan horses or a rickshaw for anyone who prefers not to walk far.
